Hope Highlights - December 2009
Dear Friends of Hope Endeavors,
We would like to thank you for support of our 2009 projects. Hope Endeavors projects bring hope to those in need in very tangible ways as a result of your partnership and contribution.
We are excited to see how God is using our partnerships with Save Orphans Ministries in Africa, the Aeta Children’s Home and the Outreach Pastors in the Philippines to show God’s love to the very needy in our world.
Through our partnership with Save Orphans Ministries and the Orphan Care Center children with AIDs are now receiving residential, daily care at the Care Center.
In addition,
- 78 children are meeting at the Center each weekday to receive nutritious food, educational instruction as well as singing and playing together.
- 48 children living with AIDS are being cared for as they come to the Center twice a month to pray, play and to receive food and lessons through a new program called Friends for Life.
- The well is completed and not only providing water to the Center but also to the community.
We are still looking for additional monthly partners to join us in providing for the Orphans Care Center and the programs operating through it. Together - I have faith that we can reach this challenge and in so doing give health and hope to 40 more suffering children.
In addition to Monthly Sponsorship of the Orphan Care Center, we have two new projects – Buckets and Blankets of Hope and our Vitamins and VitaMeals Project.
Buckets and Blankets of Hope are distributed to families caring for HIV/AIDs patients through home visits and are filled with very basic necessities, such as cooking oil, rice, corn, toothbrushes, soap and towels. We have seen first hand the testimony of a young boy with HIV who was once very ill but through SOM’s home visit program he received life restoring ARV’s, medicinal herbs and nutrient enriched food. Each Bucket of Hope can be provided for $20 and for just $10 more, a blanket can be included to bring comfort and warmth to an ill child. We have also provided 100 Bibles in the Chichewa language to be included with the Buckets to bring the hope that is in Christ. Buckets and Blankets of Hope is just another way we can show God’s love.
The Vitamins and Vita Meal Project was also started to respond to these very real needs of the children of Malawi. For as little as $15, you can provide a child with a month supply of life restoring VitaMeal. Vita Meal is a nutrient enhanced porridge that helps not only satisfy their hunger but also boosts their immune systems. In addition to VitaMeal being provided through the Care Center programs, Bulk Vitamins are also being delivered through our shipping container project.
Shipping Container Project
Our 40 foot shipping container is on the ground in Michigan and it is filled to the brim much needed supplies to be sent to Save Orphans Ministries. This container is filled with the following:
The container is ready to ship any day now!
Please pray for Save Orphans Ministries as they continue to serve our Lord and show God’s love to the children of Malawi. Also, consider what God may be calling you to do as His hands and feet.
Aeta Children’s Home and Medical Clinic – Zambales, Philippines
As many of you know, Darcy’s father, Robert Barber, went to be with the Lord in April. In his memory, we have completed the new roof for the Aeta Children’s Preschool and Administration Building.
As an educator for 38 years, he ensured children had the tools they needed to build brighter futures. Through this school, he will continue to do just that – build brighter futures for the precious Aeta’s.
Thank you all for your prayers for the family and for the contributions to his Memorial Fund.
Philippines Flooding and Emergency Relief Project
Responding to the news of the Typhoons and Flooding that hit the Philippines this fall, we were able to provide much needed medicines and food relief.
Pastor Mike worked hand in hand with Pastor Wilson and his team to provide an evacuation center, medical clinics and food distribution. Please read Pastor Wilson’s Praise report included with this newsletter for more updates on the Relief efforts, the Aeta Children’s Home and Medical Clinic.
Outreach Pastors –Tipo, Minanga, Roosevelt, and Bangal - Philippines
In April, the Outreach pastors held their 1st Annual Youth Camp which was a great success. The pastors report that they are seeing dramatic changes in their youth and increased numbers in attendance at their youth meetings.
Currently, we are supporting 4 Pastors and their families. They are Pastor Fidel in Tipo, Pastor Noel in Bangal, and Pastor Carlon in Roosevelt
Through our website, www.HopeEndeavors.com - you can view updates, projects, pictures and make electronic contributions.
Thank you for your prayers and support in changing children’s lives. Knowing that giving to children in crisis will change your life, their life, our lives.
God Bless,
Hope Endeavors
